About Us
The Historic Holmes Theatre (HHT) is part of DLCCC, Inc.—a vibrant, multi-use facility that nurtures the community’s body, mind, and spirit. Located in Detroit Lakes, HHT stands as a testament to what a determined community can achieve. More than $9 million was raised to transform a once-dilapidated school into a state-of-the-art complex featuring a theatre, fitness and aquatics center, senior nutrition center, child care facilities, and commercial space.
The theatre officially opened its doors in May 2002 as an 800-seat venue, carefully preserving the elegance and charm of its original 1930s Art Deco architecture. From the start, its mission was clear: to bring the arts to our region.
Today, HHT has far surpassed its founding vision. It is now the heart of a thriving arts community—continually expanding both in the diversity of performances it offers and the audiences it reaches. Through engaging programs and collaborations, it has become a vital gathering place where people come to learn, grow, and play.
HHT actively partners with the city, Chamber of Commerce, regional nonprofits, and area businesses to draw visitors to the region, while ongoing community support shines through in business sponsorships, media coverage, loyal audience members, and our dedicated Friends of the Theatre.
Our year-round programming features a rich variety of performances, including concerts in the park, children’s activities in theatre, music and art, and visual arts programming. Seasonal lineups range from classical, country, and rock music to comedy, family-friendly productions, children’s theatre, and dance. Audiences enjoy a compelling mix of unexpected performances that challenge and inspire, alongside exciting tributes to beloved artists.
HHT has earned a reputation as both a launchpad for emerging artists and a proud supporter of local talent—offering musicians, actors, and visual artists the chance to share their gifts with the community.
